Reminder to comment on Road Safety Strategy for Cape Town

The City’s Urban Mobility Directorate would like to remind all residents to submit input on the draft Road Safety Strategy before Monday,8 June 2026. The City is determined to make our roads safer, and reduce the number of accidents and loss of life. This updated strategy addresses road safety for pedestrians, other non-motorised road users and passengers, especially scholars and public transport users.
The City is responsible for leading the development, coordination and oversight of road safety initiatives and this updated strategy now reflects current conditions and emerging road safety challenges.
‘We ask that residents review the draft strategy and provide their valuable comments by 8 June 2026. Road safety affects everyone and is a key priority for us, we want to ensure that we make every effort to improve road safety for all in Cape Town.
‘We encourage stakeholders, including residents, innovators, civic organisations, businesses, and researchers to provide input. Every road user deserves to travel safely; whether they’re walking, cycling, using public transport or driving. Road safety affects communities, families and the everyday journey across Cape Town,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
